A system where a customer selects a specific cast member present in the venue. A nomination fee applies and directly contributes to the cast member's income.
In-store nomination (jōnai shimei) is the most common method of selecting a cast member at soaplands and similar adult entertainment venues in Japan. Upon arrival, the customer browses a panel or tablet displaying photos and profiles of the cast members currently available in the venue, then chooses a specific person to accompany them.
The nomination fee varies by establishment and cast member, typically ranging from a few thousand to tens of thousands of yen, added on top of the base service charge. A significant portion of this fee goes directly to the cast member, making it a crucial factor in their earnings.
The process usually begins at the reception desk, where the customer confirms the pricing plan and selects a cast member. After a short wait in the lounge, the chosen cast member escorts the customer to a private room. First-time visitors may be offered recommendations by the staff.
Etiquette is important: treat the nominated cast member with respect and avoid making unreasonable demands. Payment is typically in cash, as many establishments do not accept credit cards, so it is wise to confirm the payment method in advance.
