Know it’s real, and know what it costs, before you go.

From the outside, it’s hard to tell a vetted venue from a tout’s promise or a padded bill. We confirm the prices, hours, and foreigner policy of every venue before it’s listed, and we clearly mark anything paid, so you can choose somewhere discreetly and with confidence.

We aren’t an information booth, and we don’t send you anywhere for a kickback. We’re paid by the venues that list with us, never by your night out, so the only thing we’re really offering you is a clear, honest look at a place before you go.

What every listing tells you up front

We lead each venue page with the handful of facts that decide whether a place is right for you, and we confirm them ourselves before anyone sees the listing.

  • The all-in price, with the set charge, service, and tax already included. No otoshi surprise, no separate cover added once you sit down.

  • The languages staff actually speak, so you know you’ll be understood and won’t end up in a billing dispute over a misunderstanding.

Venue types on this site

RED LIGHT JAPAN covers Japan's adult entertainment industry, specifically the three main categories that foreign visitors most often look for information about.

Soapland (ソープランド)
The most well-known category of adult entertainment in Japan. Private rooms with bathing facilities. Fees in major cities typically run ¥20,000–¥60,000 for 60–90 minutes. Venues that accept foreign guests are a minority; use the Foreign OK filter to find them. Most require a reservation.
Delivery health (デリヘル)
An outcall format where staff visit your hotel or accommodation. No venue to travel to. Fees typically run ¥15,000–¥30,000 for 60–90 minutes. Advance booking required. Some services have basic English support via chat for reservations.
Men's esthetic (メンズエステ)
Body care and relaxation services in a private room setting. Fees typically run ¥10,000–¥25,000 for 60–90 minutes. More venues in this category accept foreign guests than in other adult entertainment formats, and a basic level of English is available at some.

What we check before a venue goes live

Before a listing is published, someone on our team confirms the details that matter most to a visitor arriving from abroad. Every venue shows the date it was last verified, and any listing we haven’t re-checked within 90 days loses its badge until we do.

  • The full price, with set charge, service, and tax included and no surprise add-ons
  • Real opening hours and the current schedule
  • Which languages the staff speak, and how welcoming the venue is to foreign guests
  • The exact address and the nearest station

What the price on a listing means

Japan's adult entertainment pricing has some specific terms worth knowing before you book. The total shown on every listing is what you pay for the base service without extras.

Course fee
The base price covering a set time (60, 90, or 120 minutes) and the service. This is the main number on the listing. Some venues offer different content at different price points within the same time slot.
Nomination fee (指名料)
Added if you request a specific person by name. The listing shows whether this is included in the total or charged separately. First-time visitors with no preference can skip the nomination.
Extension fee (延長料金)
Charged if you go beyond your booked time. The per-extension cost is shown on the listing before you decide. You're not obligated to extend.
Transportation fee
For delivery-format services, staff travel costs may be charged separately. This is always disclosed on the listing page before you book.
Payment
Most venues are cash-only. A small number accept card payment. Use the Card OK filter to find them. Convenience store ATMs across Japan accept foreign cards and are available 24 hours.

Why you see venues in this order

Search results are ordered on merit. A venue climbs when it closely matches what you searched for, keeps its listing complete with real photos, current prices and an up-to-date cast, and stays fresh. A well-run venue earns a place near the top without paying for it.

MatchCompletenessFreshness

A venue can pay to appear in a reserved slot, but paid placement only lifts a listing within this merit order. It can never buy the top of the page or push a better-matched venue out of sight.

Editorial picks: Top 100, Editor’s Pick, Newcomer

These badges come from our editorial team and can’t be bought. We award them for the things that genuinely set a venue apart, hospitality, consistency, and the experience itself, not for how much it spends with us. Each badge carries the year it was given, so a stale one is easy to spot.

Reviews

Reviews come from signed-in visitors and are moderated by our team for spam, abuse, and anything that exposes a cast member’s privacy. We never edit a review to soften it, and a venue can’t pay to add a good one or take down a bad one.

Questions visitors ask

Common questions from visitors looking for information about Japan's adult entertainment venues for the first time.

Can foreigners use adult entertainment services in Japan?
Yes, but not every venue accepts foreign guests. The Foreign OK tag marks venues that have confirmed they can serve guests in English, Korean, or Chinese. Filter by this tag in the search. Some venues that don't carry this tag may still help you, but communication will be in Japanese only.
Is it legal for foreigners to use these services in Japan?
Yes. The services listed on RED LIGHT JAPAN operate under Japan's adult entertainment laws (風俗営業法 / 風適法). There is no law that restricts foreign nationals from using these services. The minimum age requirement is 18.
Do I need a reservation?
For soaplands, yes, almost always. For delivery services, advance booking is expected. Men's esthetic venues sometimes take walk-ins, but calling or messaging ahead is a good idea. Contact details including LINE and WhatsApp are on every listing page.
Are there extra charges not shown on the listing?
The total shown covers the base service without nomination, extension, or transport fees. All additional costs are listed separately on the venue page before you book. We remove listings where we find undisclosed charges.
Is cash or card accepted?
Most venues require cash. A small number accept card. Use the Card OK filter to find them. Convenience store ATMs throughout Japan accept foreign-issued cards and are open around the clock.
Is it okay to go alone?
Yes. All three formats covered here are individual services. You'll be alone with the staff member in a private setting. Going alone is the standard for these venues.
What is the age requirement?
18 or over. ID may be requested. A passport is accepted.
Do I need to speak Japanese?
At Foreign OK venues, basic English or use of a translation app is sufficient for getting through the booking and visit. Service instructions may still be in Japanese; staff at these venues are used to working with non-Japanese speakers.
Is tipping expected?
No. Japan has no tipping custom. The fee you pay covers everything. Offering a tip may cause confusion or be declined.
Can I re-request the same person next time?
Yes. Note the person's name during your visit. On your next booking, mention the name when making the reservation. A nomination fee may apply; this will be shown on the listing.

How we make money

We’re paid by the venues that list with us, through a simple listing fee and the option to feature in a reserved slot. That’s the whole model. We don’t take bookings, hold your payment, or earn a commission on anything you spend.

Because we don’t take a cut of your night, we have no reason to steer you toward one place over another. Once you’ve decided, you contact the venue directly and deal with them, not with us.

Still have a question?

Reach out any time. The contact details are on every venue page, and a real person on our team reads what comes in.
