Nomination

Nomination (shimei) is a system in the adult entertainment industry, including soaplands, where a customer selects a specific cast member (female employee) to provide their service.

At most establishments, upon entry, customers are presented with a tablet or panel displaying photos and profiles of the cast, from which they choose their preferred cast member. A nomination fee is added to the base price, typically ranging from several thousand yen to around 10,000 yen.

There are several types of nomination. A "main nomination" (hon-shimei) refers to re-selecting a cast member you have used before, which may be distinguished from a first-time nomination. Some shops also offer a "reservation nomination" system where you can book in advance by phone or LINE.

As for etiquette, it is important to respect the cast member's availability and schedule. Last-minute changes to a nomination can affect the cast member's schedule, so it is advisable to make reservations in advance whenever possible.

Pricing structures vary by shop, but in addition to the nomination fee, optional services and extension charges may apply. For first-time users, it is recommended to confirm the shop's rules and fees in advance.
