Kitakyushu City

Kitakyushu City is an industrial city in northern Fukuoka Prefecture, comprising five wards: Kokura, Tobata, Yahata, Wakamatsu, and Moji. Once known as the 'City of Iron,' it still features heavy factory complexes that define its landscape. At night, the areas around train stations and downtown light up with neon, bustling with local office workers and tourists.

The adult entertainment districts are centered around the north exit of Kokura Station and parts of Tobata Ward. Exiting Kokura Station's north exit, you'll immediately find an area lined with soaplands and pink salons. Tobata Ward retains an old-fashioned soapland street with relatively affordable prices. Overall, while not as large as Fukuoka City, the scene here is locally oriented and has a homey feel.

The adult industry in Kitakyushu is dominated by soaplands. The Kokura area has about 30 soaplands, and Tobata has about 20. Prices start from around ¥10,000 for 60 minutes, which is cheap by national standards. Delivery health services are also abundant, with about 50 shops operating mainly in Kokura and Tobata. Pink salons number around 10 near Kokura Station. There are also a few SM clubs and erotic massage shops.

For foreign visitors, soaplands are the most accessible. However, English-speaking shops are limited, so advance confirmation is necessary. Delivery health can be called to hotels, but most shops only handle Japanese. Pink salons are quick and easy, but the language barrier is high.

Access is via JR Kokura Station, the main hub. From Tokyo, it's about 5 hours by Shinkansen; from Hakata, about 50 minutes by local train. The adult districts are within walking distance from the station. Most shops are open from noon to around midnight. Weekends are crowded, so weekday visits are recommended.

Note that some adult districts in Kitakyushu are adjacent to residential areas, so be mindful of noise and manners late at night. Also, soaplands may require ID upon entry. Always carry your passport.
