Kokura is the central area of Kitakyushu. City documents describe the Uomachi Gintengai arcade, which runs about 400 m from Kokura Station at its northern end to Tanga Market in the south.
Kitakyushu's tourism site says the shinkansen takes about 15 minutes to Kokura from Hakata and about 50 minutes from Kumamoto. The city's document places the Uomachi shopping street along the Kitakyushu Monorail, stretching about 400 m south of Kokura Station.
According to the city, the Uomachi shopping street is known as the first in Japan to have an arcade built over a public road. A single covered street links the station at its north end with Tanga Market at its south end.
Kokura has no listings for now; anything added will be shown on this page. The Kitakyushu City page has none either, so listings in the prefecture can be found via the Fukuoka page.
Under Kitakyushu's ordinance on touting, the zone designated when it was enacted is the Kokura city-centre no-touting zone, covering parts of Uomachi and Kyomachi. A council report of 22 January 2026 held off on designating Kajimachi, Sakaimachi and Konyamachi, saying local consensus was not yet sufficient.
Under Fukuoka Prefecture's adult-information ordinance, the ban on referral services for store-based sex businesses covers the whole prefecture, with Senda-machi 3 in Kokura Kita Ward as one of the exceptions. Information services for hospitality businesses are barred from midnight, extended to 1 a.m. on certain days in second-schedule areas such as Uomachi, Kyomachi and Senda-machi.
