Kitahama in Beppu is also a stop for the buses from Oita Airport. The Oita/Beppu route calls at Beppu Kitahama before carrying on into Oita City, so the same bus serves you whether you stay in Beppu or in Oita. Hita is the site's third major area.
Article 28 of the Entertainment Business Act bans storefront sex-related businesses within 200 metres of schools, libraries, child welfare facilities and other facilities a prefecture names by ordinance. Prefectures may also ban them in areas they designate, so where they may operate in Oita is set by the prefectural ordinance.

From Hakata, JR Kyushu's Sonic limited express reaches Oita and Beppu in 2 hours 1 minute at the fastest, with 31 trains a day each way. The prefecture is off the Kyushu Shinkansen, so from Fukuoka this conventional-line express is the main rail route.
The airport buses from Oita Airport take about 58 minutes to Oita Station on the expressway services. For Beppu, the Oita/Beppu route reaches Beppu Kitahama in about 47 minutes and the Beppu Station service reaches JR Beppu Station in about 53. Times can shift to match flight arrivals.
