Kofu sits near the centre of Yamanashi, and its streets spread across the floor of the Kofu Basin. The city notes that Yatsugatake rises to the north, Mt Fuji to the south and the Southern Alps to the west. The JR Chuo Line links it with the rest of Japan; the limited express from Shinjuku takes about 1 hour 30 minutes.
The Japan Tourism Agency's multilingual commentary describes Fujiyoshida's Gekkoji district as the place where merchants enriched by the textile trade entertained their clients, and as the only real entertainment district left in the Fuji Five Lakes area. The city has worked with restaurant owners on multilingual signs and menus. The nearest station is Gekkoji on the Fujikyu Line.
Article 28 of the Act on Control and Improvement of Amusement Businesses bans store-based adult businesses within 200 metres of schools, libraries, child welfare facilities and similar sites, and lets each prefecture designate further prohibited areas by ordinance. Article 10 of Yamanashi's ordinance sets the prohibited area for soaplands (Act Art. 2(6)(i)), fashion health shops (Art. 2(6)(ii)) and reception offices as the whole prefecture.
Under Article 28(3), these rules do not apply to a venue that was already operating under a filed notification when they took effect. Walk-in formats such as soaplands can operate only within those limits; delivery health is an outcall format used at a hotel or another place you choose. Because reception offices are banned too, an outcall area marks the venue's office or base.
According to Kofu City, the JR Chuo Line limited express takes about 1 hour 30 minutes from Shinjuku and about 1 hour 15 minutes from Matsumoto, while the Minobu Line limited express from Fuji takes about 1 hour 40 minutes. The prefecture's tourism site gives 58 minutes from Shinjuku to Otsuki on the Azusa or Kaiji, then 50 minutes on the Fujikyu Line to Kawaguchiko.
From Nagoya, the same tourism site gives 113 minutes on the limited express Shinano to Shiojiri, then 57 minutes on the Azusa or Kaiji to Kofu. Kofu City lists highway buses to Kofu of about 2 hours 10 minutes from Shinjuku Station West Exit and about 4 hours 3 minutes from Nagoya Station.
This site splits Yamanashi into two major areas, Kofu and Fujiyoshida City, each holding one area: Kofu City and Fujiyoshida City. The venue list for each is on its area page.
It depends on the venue. Each venue page lists the languages it handles, and the “English OK” filter in search narrows results to venues with English support.
Payment methods vary by venue. Check the listing and confirm with the venue before booking.
