Hateruma Island

Step onto Hateruma Island and you'll notice time moves differently. Sugarcane fields sway in the wind, and the stars outshine any streetlight. There are no neon signs, no billboards. Nights are quiet, with only the sound of waves.

Geographically, it's about 60 km south of Ishigaki Island. The high-speed ferry "Hateruma" takes about an hour each way, with two round trips daily. The island's circumference is about 14 km, population around 500. The settlement clusters around the port, with a handful of minshuku (guesthouses) and small eateries.

The adult entertainment industry is nonexistent. Soaplands, delivery health, fashion health, hotel health, pink salons, SM clubs, dating clubs, erotic massage—zero of every category. There are no fuzoku shops on the island, and there never have been. This is a deliberate choice, prioritizing the residents' lifestyle.

If you're seeking sexual services, coming here is a waste of time. You'd need to return to Ishigaki Island, which has a few delivery health and hotel health shops. Hateruma has nothing.

Practical advice: Spend your nights stargazing or taking quiet walks. The island is famous for having Japan's clearest night skies—the Milky Way is visible to the naked eye. Dinner at minshuku is early, and by 9 PM most lights are off.

For foreign visitors: Understand in advance that there are no adult venues here. If your goal is adult services, choose Naha or Ishigaki Island instead. Hateruma is for pure nature experiences.
