Scout

Scouting is approaching women in entertainment districts or on social media to recruit them for work at adult venues, hostess clubs and the like. The person is a scout or scout man, and he is paid a referral fee by the venue, the scout back, once the woman starts work. Street scouting is restricted by nuisance-prevention ordinances in most prefectures, and the payment of referral fees has also drawn arrests.

Drawing customers into a venue is touting, kyakuhiki or catch, a different job. A visitor approached in an entertainment district is being touted, and a padded bill at the venue they lead you to is the classic trouble. Follow neither; choose a venue that publishes its prices and book it yourself.
