Nishinomiya, Amagasaki, Itami and Takarazuka are the Hanshin-kan cities of southeastern Hyogo, strung between Osaka and Kobe. JR, Hankyu and Hanshin all run through them, and Osaka International (Itami) Airport sits on their edge.

Amagasaki is closest to Osaka: JR Osaka to Amagasaki is about 5 minutes by Special Rapid, Sannomiya about 15. Hanshin Osaka-Umeda to Hanshin Amagasaki is about 7 minutes by direct limited express, and Hankyu Osaka-Umeda to Tsukaguchi about 13. Nishinomiya's centre is Hanshin Nishinomiya, JR Nishinomiya and Hankyu Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi, about 15 to 20 minutes from Osaka and Kobe.
Itami lies in southeastern Hyogo, bordering Amagasaki, Nishinomiya and Kawanishi and the Osaka cities of Toyonaka and Ikeda. It has Itami and Kita-Itami on the JR Takarazuka Line and Itami, Shin-Itami and Inano on the Hankyu Itami Line, with Osaka and Kobe within about 30 minutes. Takarazuka is reached from Osaka-Umeda on the Hankyu Takarazuka Line or the JR Takarazuka Line, and from Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi on the Hankyu Imazu Line.
From Osaka International (Itami) Airport, airport buses reach Hanshin Koshien and Hankyu Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi in Nishinomiya in about 25 to 45 minutes. For Amagasaki, take the Osaka Monorail to Hotarugaike and change to Hankyu, about 20 minutes; for Takarazuka, change at Hotarugaike to the Hankyu Takarazuka Line. From Kansai International Airport the bus to Nishinomiya takes about 55 to 75 minutes.
