Shin-Shigai, Kumamoto City's downtown, is one of Kyushu's largest adult entertainment districts, with soaplands, delivery health, and pink salons concentrated in a compact area. Step off the tram-lined main street into neon-lit side alleys for a no-nonsense night out.
Shin-Shigai is the downtown area southeast of Kumamoto Castle, stretching between the Karashimacho and Kumamoto Castle/Shiyakushomae tram stops. By day it's a normal shopping street, but at night neon signs light up and adult businesses cluster in the side alleys.
The core is the Shin-Shigai Arcade and its surrounding lanes. The arcade itself has restaurants and game centers, but step into the backstreets and you'll find soaplands, pink salons, and delivery health dispatch offices lining the way.
It's not as large as Fukuoka's Nakasu, but it's the biggest adult district in Kumamoto Prefecture. There are about 20 soaplands, over 10 pink salons, and many delivery health services. Prices are standard for a regional city: soaplands 10,000–20,000 yen for 30–60 minutes, pink salons 3,000–5,000 yen for 15–30 minutes.
For foreign visitors, pink salons are the easiest entry point. Soaplands often refuse service if you don't speak Japanese. Delivery health can be called to your hotel, but English-friendly shops are limited.
Access: from Kumamoto Station, take the tram to Karashimacho (3 min walk). By bus, get off at Kumamoto Kotsu Center. Best time to visit is Friday or Saturday night.
Note: touts and scouts may approach you—just ignore them. Most shops are cash-only, so bring enough yen.
It depends on the venue. Each venue page lists the languages it handles, and the “English OK” filter in search narrows results to venues with English support.
Payment methods vary by venue. Check the listing and confirm with the venue before booking.
