Nagoya, the capital of Aichi, has two centres: Nagoya Station and Sakae. The Nishiki 3-chome entertainment district adjoins Sakae, and this site divides the city into station areas such as Sakae/Shin-Sakae, Nishiki, Meieki/Nakamura-ku, Osu and Kanayama.

Nagoya sits right in the centre of Japan as the capital of Aichi Prefecture, and Nagoya Station, known as Meieki, is its largest transport hub. From Tokyo the Nozomi takes about 1 hour 40 minutes; from Chubu Centrair International Airport the Meitetsu μSKY reaches Meitetsu Nagoya in 28 to 35 minutes. Nagoya Airport in Komaki is about 35 minutes north of the centre.
Sakae is the shopping and business district, with Fushimi between it and Nagoya Station. Next to Sakae, Nishiki 3-chome, nicknamed Kinsan, is one of Nagoya's foremost entertainment districts and takes the evening flow from the adjoining business quarter. The blocks here follow the grid laid out for the castle town of Nagoya Castle.
Osu is a shopping district of more than 1,200 shops and restaurants around Osu Kannon Temple. Kanayama Station is a hub where the Meitetsu Nagoya Main Line, the JR Chuo and Tokaido Main Lines and the subway Meijo and Meiko lines converge, and the city is developing it as a sub-centre. The other areas are Marunouchi, Chikusa/Imaike/Ikeshita, Ozone/Kita-ku/Nishi-ku, Fujigaoka/Moriyama-ku, Minami-ku/Minato-ku/Nakagawa-ku and Tempaku-ku/Mizuho-ku/Midori-ku.
