Sannomiya is the centre of Chuo Ward, Kobe, where the JR, Hankyu, Hanshin, subway and Port Liner stations all called Sannomiya sit side by side. Kobe's night-time district spreads north of the stations.
Sannomiya on the JR Kobe Line, Kobe-Sannomiya on the Hankyu Kobe Line and Hanshin Main Line, Sannomiya on the Seishin-Yamate subway line, Sannomiya-Hanadokeimae on the Kaigan Line and Sannomiya on the Port Liner are all within the same few blocks. Osaka is 21 minutes away at the fastest and Kyoto 52 minutes.
From Kobe Airport the Port Liner ride is roughly 18 minutes. From Kansai airport you can take the train, or the high-speed ferry to Port Island in about 30 minutes. The station names differ slightly between operators (Sannomiya, Kobe-Sannomiya), so check the station and exit named on the venue page.
In front of the stations are the covered Center Gai arcade and the Santica underground mall; the former Foreign Settlement lies to the south and Motomachi to the west. The night venues are concentrated north of the stations, around Higashimon-gai, Ikuta-shindo, Sankita-dori and Kitano-zaka. Ikuta Shrine marks the northern side.
