Sakai and Mozu

From Shin-Osaka, take the Midosuji Line to Namba and change to the Nankai Koya Line for Sakai-Higashi, about 27 minutes in all, or the Nankai Main Line for Sakai, about 23. Nakamozu, the southern end of the Midosuji Line, is also in Sakai. The Mozu Kofun Group, burial mounds from the late 4th to early 6th century of which 44 survive, spreads across the city; the Nintoku-tenno-ryo Kofun is 486 m long, the largest in Japan, and the group was inscribed as a World Heritage Site in 2019. From Sakai-Higashi, change at Mikunigaoka to the JR Hanwa Line for Mozu Station, about 15 minutes.

Kishiwada, Izumisano and Sennan

Kishiwada became a city in 1922; it has four Nankai Main Line stations and three JR Hanwa Line stations, about 30 minutes by train from Osaka City, and is known for its Danjiri Festival with more than 300 years of history. Izumisano, roughly midway between Osaka and Wakayama with about 100,000 residents, is the gateway city for Kansai International Airport, which opened in September 1994.
