Ikebukuro's night shows a completely different face between the east and west exits. The east exit, centered around Sunshine Street and Romance Street, is lined with shops for young people and game centers. The west exit has a dense cluster of restaurants and izakayas, giving it a calmer atmosphere. Adult shops are scattered in both areas, but not concentrated in one spot.

Geographically, centered on Ikebukuro Station, the east exit extends toward Sunshine 60 Street, and the west exit toward the West Exit Five-Way Intersection. Adult shops are mainly scattered around Romance Street on the east side and back streets on the west side. Within a 5-10 minute walk from the station, signs and touts are the landmarks.

Ikebukuro's adult entertainment district is smaller in scale compared to Shinjuku or Shibuya. The main category is delivery health (deliheru), where girls are dispatched to nearby love hotels. Prices start around ¥10,000 for 60 minutes, slightly cheaper than central Tokyo. There are also a few pink salons (pinsaro) for quick, casual fun. Hotel health (hoteheru) and erotic massage (eroeste) exist but are limited in number.

The density of adult shops is low, and signs are discreet, so first-timers might find them hard to spot. Touts are only a few on Romance Street on the east side. Most shops are on the second floor or higher in multi-tenant buildings. Foreigner-friendly services are limited; if you don't speak Japanese, you may be turned away.

Access is within walking distance from JR Ikebukuro Station. For the east exit, head straight on Sunshine Street; for the west exit, aim for the West Exit Five-Way Intersection. Business hours vary by shop, but delivery health operates from afternoon to late night, while pink salons are mainly open from evening to late night. Weekends are busy but wait times are short.

A note: Ikebukuro's adult district is not as lively as Shinjuku or Ueno. Don't expect flashy neon or aggressive touts. It's for those who want a quiet experience. Also, delivery health requires separate hotel fees, so budget accordingly.
