Sumiyoshi/Minoshima

Sumiyoshi/Minoshima is within walking distance south of Hakata Station. Main streets are lined with apartments and offices, but step into the alleys and you'll find quiet residential blocks. At night, foot traffic thins out and the neon signs of adult shops become more visible.

Geographically, Sumiyoshi runs along the Naka River, with Minoshima to its south. It's about a 15-minute walk from Hakata Station, and bus routes are plentiful. Convenience stores and restaurants are scattered throughout, making it a convenient base.

As an adult entertainment area, it's small-scale: a handful of soaplands and a few delivery health services. Soaplands are relatively affordable, starting around ¥20,000 per hour. Delivery health services dispatch to hotels, with rates from ¥10,000 for 60 minutes.

The area caters more to local regulars than tourists. There's little aggressive street solicitation, and the atmosphere is low-key. However, the limited number of shops means fewer choices.

Access is easiest on foot or by bus from Hakata Station. Operating hours vary, but soaplands typically open from early afternoon until late night, while delivery health services are busiest in the evening. First-timers should check shop websites or reviews beforehand.

For foreign visitors, English-speaking shops are rare. If you don't speak Japanese, delivery health might be easier to arrange. The area is generally safe, but be cautious in back alleys late at night.
