Zasshokuma

Zasshokuma is an entertainment district at the southern edge of Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City, spreading around JR Zasshokuma Station on the Kagoshima Main Line. Locally called 'Zassho no Kuma,' it is the third-largest adult entertainment area in Fukuoka after Nakasu and Tenjin. The arcade shopping street extending from the station and the alleys behind it are a mix of restaurants and adult venues.

Geographically, it's about 4 km south of Hakata Station, one stop on the rapid JR train or two on the local. The main area is immediately outside the station, all within walking distance. Since the surrounding area is residential, foot traffic decreases at night, but the adult venue cluster has its own unique energy.

The adult scene in Zasshokuma is centered on soaplands. About 20 soaplands are packed into the alleys just off the main street. Prices range from ¥12,000 to ¥20,000 for 60 minutes, slightly cheaper than Nakasu. There are also a few fashion health shops, typically ¥8,000–¥12,000 for 30 minutes. Delivery health and hotel health are almost nonexistent.

Most soaplands are 'mass-market' shops—no luxury, but reasonable prices. Buildings are old, signs are modest. Foreigner-friendly services are limited; without Japanese, entry can be difficult. However, some shops have English-speaking staff.

Access is easiest via JR Zasshokuma Station. From Hakata Station, it's about 5 minutes on the rapid train or 8 minutes on the local. Exit the station and turn left into the alley to reach the adult district. If driving, there are coin parking lots nearby, but they fill up at night. Best time to visit is between 8 PM and 11 PM when most shops are open and lively.

Note that Zasshokuma is a local-oriented area, not touristy. There's little aggressive touting; the atmosphere is quiet. Soaplands generally require reservations; walk-ins are difficult. If you don't speak Japanese, it's safer to find a shop that accepts online reservations or use delivery health instead.
