Otsuka/Sugamo/Komagome/Akabane

After the lights of the izakayas in front of Otsuka Station go out, you'll notice neon signs quietly glowing in the back alleys. This is the northern gateway of Tokyo—bustling shopping streets by day, but a different face emerges at night.

The area stretches along the JR Yamanote Line, centered around Otsuka, Sugamo, Komagome, and Akabane stations. Each station has a mix of shopping streets and residential zones, with adult-oriented shops scattered in alleys and multi-tenant buildings a few minutes' walk from the stations.

The adult entertainment scene here is dominated by delivery health (deriheru) and hotel health (hoteheru). Otsuka and Akabane have particularly high concentrations of delivery health shops, while Sugamo and Komagane are known for hotel health. Prices are lower than central Tokyo, with many shops offering 60-minute sessions starting around ¥10,000. Pink salons and fashion health also exist but are fewer in number.

Most shops are small, independently run operations, with few chain stores. As a result, services and pricing vary widely. Many shops only serve Japanese-speaking customers, but English-friendly delivery health shops are gradually increasing.

Access is convenient via the JR Yamanote Line. Otsuka Station is one stop from Ikebukuro, and Akabane Station is a 10-minute rapid ride from Ueno. Typical business hours are from early afternoon until around midnight. Weekends get crowded, so early reservations are recommended.

If you're visiting for the first time, the area around Otsuka Station's north exit is a good starting point. Several delivery health shops are located in the multi-tenant buildings right in front of the station, making them relatively easy to enter. However, some shops may require Japanese language skills, so it's best to check by phone or online beforehand.
