Kameido/Hirai brings together Kameido in Koto Ward and Hirai in Edogawa Ward. Local sources describe Kameido as rich in shopping streets and the Hirai Station area as a long-established neighbourhood shopping hub.
Hirai Station appears on Edogawa Ward's main-station list under the JR Sobu Line. The ward's planning document describes the station area as a local commercial centre that has developed over many years.
The Koto tourism association says the area around Kameido Station has many shopping streets, with eateries serving local favourites such as gyoza and horumon dotted among them. GO TOKYO calls Kameido easy to reach from downtown Tokyo yet much less crowded, and names Kameido Tenjin, known for wisteria, and the Kameido Clock complex that opened in 2022. Edogawa Ward notes that the Hirai Station area has long grown as an everyday commercial hub.
