Ryogoku, in Sumida Ward, is the sumo town on the Sumida River, with the Kokugikan arena close to the station. Ryogoku Station on the JR Sobu Line and the Toei Oedo Line is the way in.
GO TOKYO notes that Ryogoku Station is on the JR Sobu and Toei Oedo lines. Sumida Ward's own guide says the Kokugikan and the Edo-Tokyo Museum are 2 minutes on foot from the west exit ticket gate of JR Ryogoku Station.
GO TOKYO places Ryogoku along the Sumida River and points out that the Ryogoku Kokugikan, home of Japan's national sport, is close to the station. A Sumida Ward publication adds that the area around Ryogoku, as the town of sumo, has chanko hot-pot restaurants that each prepare the dish in their own way.
Within the Kinshicho/Koiwa/Ryogoku area, to which Ryogoku belongs, the listed venues can be found on the Kinshicho page. If Ryogoku gains a listing, it will appear on this page too.
In Sumida Ward, the police designate Kinshi 2- to 4-chome and Kotobashi 2- to 4-chome, and no Ryogoku block is included (updated 31 March 2016). On streets and squares within the designated zones, touting connected with adult businesses and waiting for customers in public view are targeted under the Tokyo nuisance-prevention ordinance.
It depends on the venue. Each venue page lists the languages it handles, and the “English OK” filter in search narrows results to venues with English support.
Payment methods vary by venue. Check the listing and confirm with the venue before booking.
