Fushimi is the part of Kyoto that the city tourism association presents as a town of good water and sake brewing, where the brewery buildings can be viewed across the Horikawa canal.
On the Keihan network, Chushojima Station is served by the Main Line, the Oto Line and the Uji Line, while Fushimi-Momoyama is on the Main Line and the Oto Line; Tambabashi offers a change to the Kintetsu Kyoto Line. The tourism association describes two routes: JR Nara Line to Tofukuji, then Keihan to Chushojima or Fushimi-Momoyama, or Kintetsu from Kyoto Station to Momoyama-Goryomae.
The association notes that the 400-metre Fushimi Otesuji shopping street was built on the road that once led to Otemon, the front gate of Fushimi Castle. It also points to Teradaya and the monument to the Battle of Toba-Fushimi as places tied to Hideyoshi's era and the end of the Edo period.

Kyoto City's ordinance against touting took effect on 1 April 2015. The zones the city names include the Gion–Kawaramachi district, the streets around Higashinotoin-Nishikikoji and the area north of Kyoto Station; the city's own page gives the exact boundaries.
