Chidori Bridge / Nishikujo covers the area around Chidoribashi and Nishikujo stations on the Hanshin Namba Line. This page introduces the stations and the origin of the Nishikujo place name as Konohana Ward explains it.
Hanshin's station directory places both Chidoribashi and Nishi-Kujo on the Hanshin Namba Line. Konohana Ward traces the Nishi-Kujo name to the division of Kujo Island when the Aji River was excavated.
According to Konohana Ward, the name Nishikujo goes back to 1684, when cutting the Ajikawa (Shinbori) channel split Kujo Island into east and west, and the western part became the town. Chidoribashi and Nishikujo are within Osaka City, so the city's touting ordinance reaches them. Under it, touting on prohibited-zone roads is not allowed in principle for any trade, and defying guidance, a warning or an order results in a non-penal fine capped at 50,000 yen. The prefectural ordinance, for its part, allows no store-based sex business and no reception office anywhere in Osaka.
