Also known as kita-shinchi
Kita Shinchi sits beside the Dojima River in Osaka's Kita side, right at Kitashinchi Station on the JR Tozai Line. This page covers how to get there, where the district begins and ends, and the city's anti-touting designation.
Osaka's tourism bureau gives Kitashinchi Station on the JR Tozai Line as the nearest stop and says the district starts as soon as you come up from it. The Tozai Line also runs through Osakatemmangu Station, where the station map labels platform 1 as the direction for Kitashinchi and Amagasaki.
The tourism bureau describes Kita Shinchi as a refined nightlife quarter of Kita that was nicknamed the "nighttime Chamber of Commerce" after the war. It is a near rectangle about 500 meters east to west, bounded by Route 2 on the north, the Dojima River on the south, Midosuji on the east and Yotsubashi on the west. The present district formed in 1912, when the Sonezaki River was filled in and Dojima Shinchi and Sonezaki Shinchi merged.
No listings sit on the Kita Shinchi page yet; any that are added will appear here. For now this site keeps its Osaka listings on the Osaka City page and, by district, on the Umeda, Namba/Shinsaibashi, Nihonbashi, Uehonmachi and Nishinakajima/Shin-Osaka/Higashi-Mikuni pages. Every listing in Osaka Prefecture is a delivery health (dispatch) service.
Since 22 November 2018 the city has designated Sonezaki-Shinchi 1-2 chome, Dojima 1-3 chome and Dojimahama 1-2 chome (underground areas excluded) as the Kitashinchi priority district for touting control, with patrols and guidance. That is a separate designation from the prohibited zones where fines apply. A city flyer for the area lists pressing people who have said no and blocking someone's path among the banned acts.
In Kita, the prohibited zones where fines apply are streets in Kita Ward such as Sonezaki 1-2 chome, Toganocho and Doyamacho; there, touts who ignore guidance or orders face a non-penal fine of up to 50,000 yen. Separately, an Osaka Prefecture ordinance bars store-based adult businesses and reception-office businesses anywhere in the prefecture.
It depends on the venue. Each venue page lists the languages it handles, and the “English OK” filter in search narrows results to venues with English support.
Payment methods vary by venue. Check the listing and confirm with the venue before booking.
