Daikokucho is the area around Daikokucho Station in Osaka's Naniwa Ward, where the Midosuji and Yotsubashi lines both stop. This page covers the interchange and the area's history as a leather wholesale district.
Daikokucho Station on the Midosuji Line (M21) is an interchange with the Yotsubashi Line (Y16). On the Midosuji Line its neighbours are Namba (M20) and Dobutsuen-mae (M22). Because both lines call at the same station, riders on either line arrive without changing.
A Naniwa Ward page explains that after the war Daikoku thrived as a district of leather wholesalers and was even called the "mecca of the leather industry." Daikokucho has no listings for now; once added they will be displayed on this page. The current set is indexed on the Osaka City page and split across Namba/Shinsaibashi as well as Nihonbashi, Umeda, Uehonmachi and Nishinakajima/Shin-Osaka/Higashi-Mikuni. In the prefecture only dispatch services are listed.
In every part of the prefecture, Osaka's ordinance prohibits store-based sex businesses and reception-office businesses. Naniwa Ward belongs to Osaka City, so the city's touting ordinance applies as well: on any road the city designates a prohibited zone, every trade is barred from touting in principle, and a person who disobeys guidance or orders faces a non-penal fine of up to 50,000 yen.
